"Imagine a haven that intertwines the past with the present, a space whispering stories of family history with every step. This is the essence of the Memory House pavilion, an extension to the existing Villa Rosa, designed to celebrate an "extended living style."
The Memory House Pavilion, where the very essence of living extends beyond mere existence. Here, every corner whispers tales of history, invoking a poetic nostalgia that binds the present to the past. The concept? The design intends to immerse the users in a Zen-like state, seamlessly integrated with the serenity of the existing abode.
Within these walls, every detail is carefully curated to ignite the fires of memory. Picture the Memory Tablet, etched with the names of generations past, or the recycled relics of yesteryears, seamlessly woven into the fabric of the structure, guiding you on a nostalgic journey through time.
Amidst the whispers of bygone days, the Memory House is a haven of both privacy and community. Private sanctuaries blend seamlessly with shared spaces, each designed to evoke a sense of tranquility and purpose. LOUNGE SPACE
The lounge space seamlessly blends indoor and outdoor experiences. A bonsai skylight offers a glimpse of miniature trees, while timber louvers create an open atmosphere. Gentle breezes flow through, carrying the soothing murmur of nature. These louvers double as sun shading devices, ensuring the Zen-like ambiance is preserved. Built-in shelves showcase antique memory remnants, further enriching the space with stories of the past.
EVENT SPACE
Beyond the lounge lies the private event space. Here, the focus shifts to the vastness of the cosmos. A dedicated skylight allows for stargazing, while a white projector wall facilitates movie nights or presentations. This space maintains privacy with a transparent enclosure, allowing a glimpse from the existing living room. Yet, it's enveloped by lush greenery, creating a serene, 360-degree green haven.
The event space connects seamlessly to the Zen park, which integrates with the existing Zen garden. This park offers a stunning view from the Master bedroom balcony. Imagine the fragrance of barbeque wafting from the outdoor kitchen, accessible for all gatherings. Guests can meander through the poetic corridor constructed from timber, glass, and gabion, leading them to the gazebo area. A built-in outdoor pantry facilitates food preparation for barbeques, ensuring a smooth flow from preparation to dining.
"a sanctuary for stargazers and dreamers alike. Transparent walls blur the lines between inside and out, offering a panoramic view of the surrounding greenery while cocooning you in a world of your own."
INDOOR GYM
The indoor gym transforms into a semi-outdoor gym, allowing for larger exercise sessions with ample ventilation. Fluid circulation throughout the building ensures a natural flow of movement, while carefully considered climate control provides shade and rain cover. Materiality plays a key role, with timber, rendered concrete, glass, and gabion creating a harmonious balance.

The distinctive 'fins' adorning the Pavilion serve a purposeful design function, strategically positioned to guide prevailing winds towards the inlet ventilation of the private secret room. This intentional design element facilitates natural cooling within the Pavilion, harnessing the power of the breeze to create a comfortable and refreshing atmosphere .
ROOF
The Pavilion's roof has been meticulously designed with the master bedroom's vantage point in mind. Embracing the existing house's single-pitch roof profile, the Pavilion introduces its own distinctive touch with strategically placed box-cut skylights. These architectural features offer captivating glimpses from the master bedroom into key areas such as the lounge space and event area, seamlessly integrating indoor and outdoor vistas.
Along the roof's perimeter, pebbles delicately line the gutters, enhancing the aesthetic appeal when viewed from above. Directly beneath the master bedroom, a tranquil zen garden awaits, its beauty accentuated when stepping onto the balcony. This not only enriches the experience for those residing in the master bedroom but also offers a serene backdrop for occupants of the ground floor living room.
Functioning as a symbolic link between the existing house and the Pavilion, the zen garden serves as a pathway for those transitioning from the living room. Purposefully excluding direct access from the existing house to the Pavilion, this intentional design choice fosters a sense of separation, ensuring privacy while enhancing the poetic essence of the user experience within the space.
In essence, the Pavilion serves as an extension of the existing home, yet remains secluded to provide a sanctuary of solitude—a testament to the thoughtful fusion of architecture and emotion

STUDY ROOM
The Pavilion's pièce de résistance, the 'secret office room,' boasts a captivating feature—a pivoting door seamlessly integrated into the wall's finish, rendering it virtually invisible upon first glance. This whimsical touch adds an element of intrigue and charm, elevating the Pavilion beyond the ordinary. The door, grand in scale and devoid of handles, serves a dual purpose. Not only does its size act as a wind redirector, guiding prevailing breezes captured from the inlet ventilation towards the interior, but it also conceals a sanctuary of memories and documents—a private study space for moments of focused contemplation.
Elevating the experience further, the study room features a raised deck, facilitating a seamless transition between indoor and outdoor spaces. Opening onto the garden through a sliding door, it beckons users to immerse themselves in the tranquility of nature, fostering a sense of serenity and calm. Strategically positioned within the Pavilion, the secret office room strikes a delicate balance between openness and privacy. Its discreet location, concealed from immediate view yet accessible to those who venture around the perimeter, ensures a sense of security without sacrificing connectivity to the surrounding garden. In essence, this seamless integration of architectural ingenuity and problem-solving underscores the Pavilion's commitment to both functionality and aesthetic delight.

And let's not forget the outdoor oasis—an invitation to dine, swim, and revel in the joys of communal living. From the sizzle of the grill to the gentle rustle of the wind through the trees, every moment is a celebration of life's simple pleasures. But perhaps the true magic lies in the fluidity of it all—the seamless blend of public and private, of past and present, that breathes new life into every corner of Villa Rosa. Here, bloodlines intertwine with the very bricks and mortar of the building, forging a bond that transcends time itself.
The Memory House pavilion isn't just an extension; it's a resurrection. It breathes new life into "dead spaces" and reawakens Villa Rosa. It's a place where families can gather, share memories, and forge new connections, forever bound by the stories etched within its walls.
