The revamping of this kitchen involves seamlessly combining two existing spaces in the home – a private family dining area and kitchen – into one large open-plan kitchen, with respect to the existing design language of the house. This design change encourages interaction in the kitchen, promoting family time via the newly installed kitchen island, besides improving functionality through the addition of worktop areas. In response to the lack of storage prior to renovation, ample new wall and base cabinets, including the kitchen island which doubles as storage, help solve this issue.
In terms of colour selection, a combination of deep green, brown and whites are merged in the space, creating a harmonious blend of earthy tones. Hints of wood grain and textures add warmth to the space, complementing its clean look and practical workflow that maximizes user comfort. Due to the long and narrow nature of this galley kitchen, adequate amount of lighting and ventilation is taken into consideration to further improve user experience in the space.
